George A Geter, has recently acquired the International Georgian Grande Horse Registry. He has been breeding Georgian Grandes since 2011 when he discovered the breed that reminded him of the American Saddlebred horses that he worked with as a young man.
George was one of 10 children born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Margie and John Geter. The family lived in a shack with dirt floors and his father had to leave them when George was just an infant. At eight years old he left home so that there was more food for the other children. He was taken in by RC Roberts as a helper and later the very young manager of the horses, the pony rides, the buying and selling of horses and more.
As a young adult he held many jobs and eventually owned several companies, the most recent being S and L Transportation. He retired in order to live a better, healthier life. Shortly after he bought a 46-acre Texas ranch, two saddlebred mares and Sas van Thorrehof a 1st Premie Friesian stallion and began breeding quality Georgian Grande horses.
As one of the leading breeders in the country, he felt obligated to continue the IGGHR by transferring ownership from the Wagner’s of Piketon, Ohio.
George is the breeder of Wallace G, the 2022 Working Equitation National Champion of Level 5 and the 2023 National Dressage Finals Champion in Intermediate I. His foals are on site along with those of Jouke JK (KFPS) and Riddle G (IGGHR) Please stop and visit the ranch and explore the grace, strength and superior temperament of the breed.
